Conundrum

I read this today: "Many people begin coming to God once they stop being religious." How interesting and probably true. The problem is that God seems to have set up the Church as the place where he wants people to come to know him best. The Bible seems to be full of indication that the being a Christian means being in community. (ex. "Let us not give up meeting together... but let us encourage one another" Heb 10:25)
The Christian life is not meant to be lived alone. At least that's the way I read it. But how do you come to God and yet avoid the religiosity of his church? Or a better way to say it: Is it possible for the Church to be non-religious?
Well, maybe. If God wants us to be in a 'relationship' and not 'religion', then maybe that's what he has in mind for the Church as well. A church based on relationships, not ritual. Now that I think about it, I know some churches who are getting it right, for the most part. Too bad so many are still missing the point.
